Introducing My First Leggings Designs

My First Leggings Designs

Hello! Jule, The Leggings Gal, here. I am writing today to share with you some of my first leggings designs I have uploaded to ArtOfWhere. ArtOfWhere is a great place to start if you want to get started with creating your own custom print-on-demand products as they allow you to place your own patterns and designs on not just leggings but also t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, capris, hats, mugs, and many more items. If you are not comfortable with creating your own designs, I would love to personally create these items for you. Please email leggings4me@gmail.com for business inquiries.

I absolutely love leggings mainly because they are so dag gone comfortable! I love the flexibility of a good pair of leggings and the fact that I can add a pop of color to my wardrobe without having to veer away from my black shirt addiction. I can't be the only person who has a ton of black tops in their closet, right? I look forward to owning a pair of each and every leggings design that I create.

The four designs I have created so far came about from me playing around with various vector images and/or features in the free GIMP paint program. I am looking forward to purchasing a license for a more feature rich paint program in the future as the one I was accustomed to using (PhotoImpact Pro 13) will no longer meet my needs going into the business world.

STARRY GALAXY

Inspiration for the "Starry Galaxy" pattern stems from my interest in celestial patterns. I have only seen leggings with a galaxy pattern floating around so I decided to create my own. I began by starting with a royal blue background. I then added stars using a star paintbrush feature of varying sizes in a swirly pattern that would run down the side of the leg. I then kept adding smaller and smaller sized stars until I reached my desired look. I am pretty please with how the design lined up on the mock leggings template on the website.

LAVA BURST FADE

The original "Lava Burst" pattern was accidentally created while playing around with some features in the GIMP program and a gradient of the colors burnt orange and gold. I decided to add in the black fade to break up the uniformity of the pattern giving it a more grunge look which is exactly what I was going for. Unfortunately, the mock leggings template does not do this pattern justice as the pattern is quite complicated and should show quite well once turned into a completed product. I have uploaded an up-close look of the "Lava Burst" pattern so you can see the intricate design contained within.

DIAMOND HEART WEAVE

leggings with blue and gray stripes and real diamond heart shapes

Believe it or not, the "Diamond Heart Weave" pattern is my very first attempt at custom leggings design. Yes, as complicated as it is. I started with a cool diamond heart vector image and placed it at various angles upon the blue and gray striped pattern I created using the pattern tool of my paint program. I then tiled the pattern until the design was large enough to be placed upon the mock leggings template. I hope this pattern will be popular as it is truly one-of-a-kind but would look great with various color tops and accessories.

RETRO CURVY (in Blue)

custom leggings with blue yellow and pink curvy pattern

This will be the first of these patterns that I will purchase for myself and I cannot wait! This pattern was also created as an experiment with the pattern tool in my paint program. I created the pattern which initially consisted of various lined paths and then colored them with various gradient fills and coordinated the colored dots to flow with the paint gradients and patterns. I will be changing the colors in this pattern to create a few different versions of this pattern as this one is definitely one of my favorites so far.

Why I Absolutely Love Leggings?

"Why I Absolutely LOVE Leggings"

Leggings have been around for as long as I can remember in some form or another. When I was growing up in the 90s, we had what were called "stirrup pants" which were basically leggings with a strap that went under your heel. I could not stand those things because the stirrup was uncomfortable and would pop off of your heel at all the wrong times. Regardless of the crazy fashion trends, growing up in the 90s was pretty epic.

Here are some reasons why I absolutely love the leggings of today:
  • They pair great with the plain tees and tops that I love so much. I can now play up an outfit and show off my colorful personality by showing off my patterned pants (and my sexy legs)!
  • They are super comfy and stretchy like pajama pants without looking like you just rolled out of bed.
  • They are more affordable than jeans for those on a budget like myself.
  • They are completely versatile: wear them to work, school, gym, beach, club, etc. You can play up or play down one pair of leggings to make them suitable for any situation.
  • They are great for those who are a little out of proportion. I have a gut and toned legs... I can accentuate my lovely legs while hiding my gut comfortably (something I cannot do in jeans).
  • There are an endless amount of patterns available! I love colors and patterns but wouldn't dare wear crazy designs on my shirts. Leggings allow me to express myself a little.
  • Many leggings styles are available in girl's sizes, too. That way, my daughter and I can do a little "Mommy & Me" bonding. Little girls get a kick out of wearing the same thing as their mothers.
